Broken Blossoms is a collection that takes inspiration by D.W. Griffith’s incredibly intricate mash of emotions silent movie from the 1919. The colours I have combined on the prints come from different sources: I was inspired by Chris Ophili’s work shown at the Tate Modern, the intense use of colour on his paintings and his meticulous decorations that related closely to the delicacy and the ornamented beauty of Broken Blossoms main character Lillian Gish.
